California FAIR Plan Issues Statement on CDI Approval of Commercial Coverage for Farms

California FAIR Plan President Anneliese Jivan today issued a statement following the California Department of Insurance’s approval of new commercial coverage for farms:

“Now that our rate filing has been approved, the FAIR Plan can finalize the complex programming and testing needed to insure farm properties, which we expect to complete by February 1. The FAIR Plan is committed to continue working as quickly as possible so farmers who are unable to obtain property insurance from other carriers can access basic fire insurance through the FAIR Plan.

“Thank you to Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara and the Department of Insurance staff who worked diligently on this rate filing. We also appreciate SB 11 author Senator Susan Rubio, the California Farm Bureau, the California Association of Winegrape Growers and the Wine Institute for championing SB 11 and for their partnership and support throughout the implementation process.”
