Be Prepared
Being prepared may help you mitigate the effects of an unexpected wildfire or loss to your home. Below are some resources to help you get started.
Preparing for a Wildfire
Wildfires are unplanned fires that burn in natural areas like forests, grasslands or prairies. These dangerous fires spread quickly and can cause a lot of damage. Here are some resources to help you prepare for wildfires.

Home Inventory
In the event of a loss, a current inventory of your home’s contents may expedite the claim process.
Make a video
The easiest way to start your inventory is by walking through your home and capturing video on your cell phone. A video alone will not be enough in a home insurance claim, but if you have one, you can use it as a reference to make an itemized list, and it can serve as part of your "proof of loss."
Save receipts
It's also a good idea to save receipts for items you've purchased. Keep them in a safe place, such as a fireproof safe. Another option is to save the receipts as photos on
your phone.
Create a list
It can be helpful to document the items in your home by room, including a brief description, the purchase date, and price for each item. Below is a sample template you can use to get started.

Do you need coverage?
To discuss your insurance needs, please contact a licensed broker. Brokers may be able to offer you additional insurance options that provide more comprehensive coverage than the California FAIR Plan. Additionally, you may wish to contact more than one broker to see whether they can offer you coverage through other insurers. Not all brokers are registered to work with the California FAIR Plan.
